Webinar – PEER and HOMER: Determining the resilience of your hybrid system

To win financial and stakeholder support for your hybrid power project, it’s critical to prove value, reliability and resilience. But demonstrating project value from feasibility through completion is difficult.

Watch the recording below to learn how two resources make this difficult task easier.

Katherine Hammack, GBCI Director of Special Projects, will present the PEER Program, which aims to transform the power sector just as LEED transformed the building sector. PEER – or performance excellence in electricity renewal – is a rating system that evaluates a power system’s reliability and resilience performance post construction.

Peter Lilienthal, Ph.D., UL Global Microgrid Lead and Founder HOMER Energy by UL, will show how HOMER modeling software enables you to validate at the feasibility stage that your proposed hybrid power system is the least-cost solution.

Together, these solutions are best practices for developing distributed energy resources.

Presenters:

Katherine Hammack

Honorable Katherine Hammack (former Assistant Secretary of the Army) is Director of Special Projects at Green Business Certification Inc (GBCI). She was one of the founding members of USGBC/GBCI over 30 years ago.  She has many years of experience in energy, sustainability, utility and infrastructure operations, and is working to advance tools to improve the built environment. Her focus is on increasing resilience and reliability in power grids with the PEER and RELi programs. Hon Hammack is a graduate from Oregon State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a Masters in Business from University of Hartford.

Peter Lilienthal, Ph.D.

Dr. Peter Lilienthal will moderate the webinar. He developed of HOMER® software while at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). After founding HOMER Energy in 2009, Dr. Lilienthal introduced HOMER Pro and HOMER Grid, which set the standard for energy modeling. HOMER Energy was acquired by UL in 2019.

UL Solutions’ HOMER® Pro is the leading pre-feasibility design software for modeling microgrids, with more than 250,000 users in more than 190 countries. It provides engineering and financial analyses of remote, off-grid and grid-tied complex distributed energy systems, helping reduce financial risk for owners and developers.
