HOMER Energy Explores New Markets on China Trade Mission

HOMER Energy was recently among 16 energy companies chosen for an invitation-only trade mission to China, sponsored by the US-China Clean Tech Center. CEO Dr. Peter Lilienthal returned from the trip inspired and encouraged after making presentations about the HOMER distributed energy modeling software to approximately 1000 attendees in five different cities.

The trade delegation included small businesses from the US, Canada, Switzerland, Spain, and Israel that specialize in new energy technologies and high-tech materials, including advanced lithium battery components, fuel cells, hydrogen production, advanced wind turbines, nano coatings and high-efficiency solar panels.

“The food was amazing!”

Lilienthal said, “The trip far exceeded my expectations. I have to give the organizers a lot of credit for pulling together such an interesting group of companies and such prestigious participants on the Chinese side. I came away with a greatly enhanced understanding of the Chinese market, which will improve our approach. Overall, I’m grateful for this new exposure to the HOMER software.”

The group visited the northern Chinese cities of Shanghai, Dongying, and Jinan, then traveled to the south where they made presentations in Guangzhou and Qingyuan. They met with Chinese investors, business groups, and municipal and trade associations, as well as US consular officials.

The purpose of the visit was to forge connections to potential Chinese partners, and help the participants find receptive customers in China, which is the world’s largest marketplace for clean energy and environmental technology.
