We are happy to announce that registration is now open for the 9th annual HOMER Microgrid and Hybrid Power International, October 12-14, 2021. With its theme of ‘Powering the New Energy World,’ this year’s presentations highlight the expanding role of hybrid power worldwide.
Please see the full agenda on the conference website. You’ll find expertise from the full range of hybrid power applications – from remote microgrids that provide energy access for those without to utility-scale applications geared toward resiliency and maximizing revenue.
Registration is free and sessions are online in a new conference platform that enhances networking. Sponsorships are available for leading companies in the microgrid industry. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to join the hybrid power revolution!
What an exciting time for hybrid power. Although we at HOMER Energy by UL have been focusing on hybrid power systems for decades, the industry is now seeing explosive growth, expansion into new markets, and acceptance by mainstream players in the electric power industry.
Solar and wind are now widely recognized as the least-cost and fastest growing source of electric energy. However, they don’t stand on their own. To provide reliable capacity, they need to be in a hybrid system and complemented by a flexible resource.
The utility industry has always valued a diversity of resources, such as a combination of baseload coal and gas-fired peaking plants. For microgrids, the flexible complement to solar and wind was often liquid-fueled reciprocating engines. Now, for both industries, batteries have moved to the forefront, providing a much cleaner energy supply and the most flexible of all resources.
This issue of the newsletter highlights the growth of the grid-connected market–in California and elsewhere–where resilience has become important due to our changing climate.
Finally, we hope you will attend our September 9, 2021, webinar with GE: Adding storage to your project: Is it as easy as you think? You can register here.
