Past Energy Access Chief, UN Foundation, to Keynote HOMER International Microgrid Conference

Richenda Van Leeuwen, former head of energy access for the United Nations Foundation, will give a keynote address at the 4th Annual HOMER International Microgrid Conference coming up in New York City on November 7-8, 2016. Van Leeuwen  founded and led the UN Foundation’s work on energy access and its engagement with the UN’s Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) Initiative. She joins Audrey Zibelman, chair of the New York Dept of Public Service Commission, the conference’s other announced keynote speaker.

A globally recognized expert on energy access, Van Leeuwen built a network of enterprises delivering clean power solutions from SE4ALL’s launch in 2011 to a global network of more than 2,300 members driving market-led finance and policy solutions for energy access in developing countries. 

A sought out global speaker on energy access, gender development, and poverty issues, Van Leeuwen’s career has spanned work on four continents. She currently serves on the board of SELCO India, a leading Indian renewable energy social enterprise, and as an advisor to many organizations delivering clean energy services in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

With a theme of Microgrid Lessons from Global Markets, the HOMER International Microgrid Conference 2016 will be held November 7 and 8 at Columbia University in New York City.
