Call for Stories: New Series on Microgrid and Hybrid Power Projects Announced

The editors of Microgrid News seek projects from HOMER® software customers for the new “Microgrid and Hybrid Power Project Spotlight” series for the online and newsletter editions of Microgrid News — with a distribution of more than 60,000 subscribers.

The upcoming “Microgrid and Hybrid Power Project Spotlight” series will feature selected projects modeled by users worldwide of HOMER software from UL Solutions. Projects chosen for the series will highlight innovations, successes and challenges during the planning, evaluating, designing and optimizing of hybrid renewable energy systems.

If you used HOMER® Pro, HOMER® Grid or HOMER® Front to design, evaluate, optimize or plan a project, Microgrid News wants to hear from you.

Notable microgrid and hybrid power projects in the following categories will be considered:

  • Grid-connected, behind-the-meter distributed generation.
  • Utility-scale hybrid power systems.
  • Off-grid microgrid projects that power remote communities, islands or other standalone systems.
  • Electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Projects to provide energy resiliency, cut demand charges, reduce carbon emissions or provide energy access.

To enter your project for consideration, please submit the brief application form at the bottom of this page by Oct. 15, 2022. Applicants can describe the problems they expect the microgrid to solve, improvements the project will accomplish, or unique challenges anticipated or overcome in building the project.

Benefits of selection

Projects selected for a “Microgrid and Hybrid Power Project Spotlight” will be:

  • Published in Microgrid News.
  • Posted on the HOMER software LinkedIn page.
  • Featured in the Microgrid News newsletter — emailed approximately once a month to a worldwide audience of tens of thousands of readers.

Based on the experience of publishing Microgrid News since 2009, the benefits of being featured include:

  • Complimentary outreach to a highly targeted, self-selected audience through publication in Microgrid News.
  • A feature story exploring your innovative project that you can share with your customers.

Exposure to a dedicated worldwide community of engineers, energy developers and professionals active in the microgrid and hybrid power industry.

Tell us about your project! Fill out the brief form below:

Submitting a project description does not guarantee that your project will be featured. Submissions will be reviewed, and a limited number will be selected. If selected, we will then interview those involved in the project and write a draft of the project feature. You will have the opportunity to review the draft to check for accurate representation. Microgrid News retains the right to make final editorial decisions. Any drafts and final content written are owned by UL Solutions, published under the writer’s name and cannot be published outside of Microgrid News or UL.com without written permission. Selection as a project spotlight does not guarantee publication of an article, social media posts or inclusion in the Microgrid Newsletter.

HOMER software delivers industry-leading system simulations, optimization, sensitivity analysis and best-in-class storage models across three categories of hybrid systems: islanded microgrids, grid-connected distributed generation, and front-of-the-meter utility-scale storage and hybrid systems.
